Fenced Reports

Fenced reports allow you to filter reports to items contained or overlapped by a CAD fence.

There are two ways to run a fenced report. First, you can select the Contained in Fence checkbox. You then draw a CAD fence around the desired area of the model, open the Report Writer and select the desired report and output format. Before opening the report, PlantWise will warn you that the fence filter

is turned on (shown on right). As long as Contained in Fence is selected, the report will only contained fenced items.

The second way to run a fenced report is to select Output Fenced Report either to screen or file from the Report menu in the Report Writer dialog. With this option, you do not need to set anything in the Report Editor.

There are several CAD fence modes: Inside, Overlap, Clip, Void, Void-Overlap, and VoidClip. Users should not use either of the Clip modes as they cause problems with the model. Inside fences will only report on items completely contained in the fence, while Void fences will only report on items completely outside of the fence. Similarly, the overlap modes will report on items within (or out of) and overlapping the fence.

Fenced Reports for Pipelines

When reporting on pipelines in fenced reports, the report will only include pipes that are fully contained in the fence when the fence is in Inside mode. To report on pipes that are crossed by the fence, the Fence Mode must be set to Overlap; this will only report on the pipe segments contained in the fence.
